 I've never been a fan of the all-white interior, yet this bedroom in particular intrigues me with its seamless blend of antique and modern furnishings.  Deep and undisturbed sleep seems almost guaranteed; and upon awakening, gazing upon an almost austere yet richly-detailed environ may be just the key to a contemplative, unhurried, and soul-enriching day (in our otherwise hectic lives).  Definitely a visual treat worth remembering (or placing in the dream-file).

imagecourtesydesiretoinspireblog Peeps, I've been doing my best to avoid the headline news concerning the upcoming election, as well as the varied stump speeches and television ads by the political candidates.  At least through the upcoming month, I plan to switch radio stations, perhaps listening only to classical music (on 90.9 FM), or if I can, surrender to the hypnotic (and varied) music programs of WRNR (103.1 FM) which broadcasts from Annapolis, MD, and can be heard as one approaches the (Chesapeake) Bay.  My co-workers complain that too much NPR affects my mood, perhaps setting a more sombre note to the day, and I'm sure that there is a certain truth to this.  Kudos to the dedicated staff at public radio who strive to provide unbiased and informed news-content (day after day)!!  Yet, as we are all aware, dire consequences around the world result from the hasty decisions made by unethical 'decidors' under less than transparent circumstances (here at home)...

photocourtesyartsake viacolorsoflifeblog Peeps, More than ever, open dialogue between all affected groups is needed.  It's pretty serious stuff when an American ambassador and his staff are murdered by a 'mob of fundamentalists;' even more serious are the some of the issues at stake:  freedom of speech (or expression), the role of the government censorship, as well as the play at power between high (the robed theocrats) and low (the millions of believers whose belief is shaped by the mullahs who function as intermediaries between holy script and everyday life).  The recent events seem pretty barbaric, and to some, evidence of some type of impending scourge, the preview to Sodom + Gomorrah (or something like that!).  Yet, here at home and if memory serves me right a year or two ago, several abortion clinics were bombed and medical personnel killed; all this now history best forgotten or shelved into distant memory as we continue to express shock, horror, and d...

VISUAL TREATS presents ' ART OUTSIDE WALLS ' / Day 5 -- LADY PINK

imagecourtesysmashingmagazinecom Peeps, Whether in town or country, evidence of untethered creativity is ample.  Sometimes it is found hidden beneath the homiest diner's counter-top or tucked under highway overpasses far beyond the reach of the most distant satellite-city.  Or briefly glimpsed from the train window while whizzing towards Union Station or Metropark where bustling commuters intent on:  making it in for early meetings/drop off at day-care/pick-up dry-cleaning (or get picked up at the 6:30 happy-hour) can scarcely make out the images precariously situated on roof-top water-towers/derelict apartment's north-facing wall/just above the shop sign for beer, wine, and cigarettes, which to many, seem hallucinatory.  Human-beings clustered in tight quarters and hurling through space display puzzling behavior made even more extreme by the fear of: missing a connection/getting a parking ticket/losing one's favorite table/being reprimanded or replaced or rejec...
