And finally we're experiencing spring in its truest form. Warmer temperatures and light showers usher nature's unfolding as azaleas, tulips, red-buds and magnolia rejoice through a crescendo of brilliant color. Creeping ground cover such as ajuga, viola, and anemones almost miraculously appear among the stepping stones which leads from the edge of the perennial bed to a bird-bath half-hidden in a grove of towering laurels. Columbines, once forgotten, nestle shyly beneath the viburnum bushes, sheltered from the slanted rays of the afternoon sun. Seemingly overnight, ferns of many sorts emerge frond-by-frond like sly lovers intent upon rapture. The anticipation of more beauty quickens my morning step . . . Happy Wednesday.
