Peeps,
What could have been so-so unexpectedly turns wow, once the eye follows the stairway ahead, and the gaze drifts upward to the exposed roof truss above. The truss, as well as the hanging light fixture (and desk) are open constructions and show clearly the process involved in fabrication. The hanging fixture reminds me so much of craft projects I attempted as a boy. Sadly, the distance between start and finish was too much for my over-active imagination, restless disposition, and excitable temperament. Model airplanes and battle-ships usually proved frustrating, as detailed instructions were a formidable obstacle to completing assemblage, and the end product never quite matched the vivid picture on the box-cover. Those wore the days well before the diagnosis of ADHD or ADD, and the kind, if misdirected nuns preferred memorization as the favored mode of learning; at the public school, discipline would be administered through caning or shaming. Imagination and creativity played second fiddle to silent adherence or mute submission. Thankfully now, design assistants patiently decipher scribbled notes and sketches in the journey backward from the finished product (in my mind's eye) to initial planning and implementation. Luckily for me, somewhere along the way I learned coping mechanisms; others were not so fortunate--but that is something we can discuss at another time.
Black and white, tempered by the natural color of wood, are quite appealing in today's visual treat. Advocates of this timeless color combination would surely approve of the featured interior (above), as do I.
Thanks for being a devoted blog reader. I appreciated getting all your responses on last week's peep-show devoted to independent little shops, and I am sure that the proprietors will welcome (and appreciate) your patronage.
Sincerely,
Shane
