Peeps,
If you are like me, actually if you are like millions of other Americans who are eagerly anticipating the results of today's election, chances are that many hours will be spent sitting in one's favorite chair watching the results on the TV, or tuning into regular news updates on the radio. It goes without saying that a comfortable sitting chair is essential, as is a light supper and plenty of snacks for the long hours ahead. If such as a handsome specimen as the bamboo sitting chair (pictured above) was next to my fireplace, I would want a drink table placed within easy reach, with plenty of surface space for bowls of assorted nuts, cheese-straws (which I can't resist), flat water, and a fifth of something a little stronger. No cubes necessary!
This little bit of gold, surrounding the fireplace (and repeated in the candle-handlers) works so well with the overall restrained mood of today's featured interior. Any amount of gold(gilding), as in accents, picture frames, the detail on furniture, and accessories, does much to warm a room; some who prefer lots of drama, will layer gold upon gold, and then throw in a few other metallic finishes, and if unchecked, will add just a couple of crystals/beads/balls/
gems/chains/drops. I also appreciate that look, meaning the Tony Duquette approach to decorating in which more is more, and this too can be fun. The gals of ' Housewives of Beverly Hills ' apparently share this philosophy -- actually they seem to live it!! With the other 99% watching them (and their sort) so intently, who can blame them for hamming it up (at least for a short while longer)...
The social media sites are abuzz tonight with predictions, a few cries of woe and worry; yet, amazingly the mood still seems upbeat. In other parts of the world, elections sometimes involve violence and bloodshed; democratic elections for some countries are non-existent, or cleverly staged to dissuade international criticism(s) and doubt as to their validity. Nevertheless, tonight we will have the opportunity to witness how concerned citizens, here, voice their pleasure/displeasure, trust/distrust, commitment/rejection of their elected officials in their respective districts. Whatever the outcome, no one knows (as of yet).
Please enjoy today's visual treat.
Sincerely,
Shane |
