While walking through the garden this morning, I well understood the reticence of the lenten roses to show themselves.  The weatherman calls for heavy snow accumulation tonight or tomorrow and the brisk winds made a quick retreat inside seem sensible.  Patience is called upon for yet another week or so; or, until the cherry trees at the Tidal Basin erupt in their yearly glory of pink blossoms signaling that spring has finally arrived.  Today, the glossies provide unlimited pleasure . . .
